This week at Larsen Elementary we are celebrating all the wonderful teachers and staff that work here during our "Teacher Appreciation Week". Some very talented PTA members decorated the doors of each class thanking the teachers for making a difference. We know Larsen has the best teachers and staff and we are grateful for all they do! We also have an awesome PTA that is putting on the celebrations all week.

Mrs. Eckhardt was awarded Teacher of the Year for Larsen Elementary last night at the district board meeting. The following is what was read about her during the meeting:
“Angela creates a classroom environment where her students love to be with many hands-on activities for her students to learn and participate. She is a leader and advocate for students. Angela has provided an enriching 4H program for many years and has taught an Underwater Robotics club that competes. She is an incredible leader and advocate for students and staff.”
We love you Mrs. Eckhardt! Thank you for all you do for the students and staff here at Larsen Elementary. You are the best.
There will be a Getaway Today brochure coming home within the next week. Getaway Today supports the Nebo Foundation, which in turn, provides grants to our schools. If your planning a fun vacation look at their awesome prices and help support the Nebo Foundation. Thank you Getaway Today for all your support to our school district.
End of year testing has begun at Larsen Elementary! We just wanted to give a few ideas that will help your students do their best on their testing:
*Each student should get plenty of sleep so they are well rested and ready to start the testing process.
*Make sure that your child gets a balanced breakfast each morning.
*Please have your student arrive at school on time.
Thanks for all your help in making this testing process successful for your students!
Recently our district applied to earn the Energy Star Certification. We sent in Energy Star applications for 44 of our facilities and ALL 44 qualified. This is an amazing feat because in order to qualify a building must score in the top 75 percentile compared to other schools around the nation. Our district average score was 99, with many schools scoring a perfect 100.
This certification process for Energy Star is not an easy one. Air quality, lighting quality, and the overall Engery Use Index readings and calculations of each facility are taken into account. This data, along with many other data points, are used to compare our K-12 facility to other K-12 facilities throughout the country. We then receive a score based on the grading criteria outlined by Energy Star.
Way to go Nebo School District! We are an Energy Star leader in the state.
The Diamond Fork Riding Club visited Larsen and went over the Champion's Reading Challenge. The kids have an opportunity to earn a free pair of boots, a hat, a pair of wranglers, and tickets to the Fiesta Days Rodeo if they win the reading challenge. There are 2 winners from each school. Landon Hanks came and showed the kids how to rope a steer. His dad, Nick Hanks, showed the kids some rope tricks. Dale Robinson and Jason Christensen had the teachers compete against the students in a barrel racing competition. The student's won and Mrs. Cook got bucked off her horse named Ginger.
