K-12 Student Innovator of the Year

K12 Student Innovator of the Year is an innovation competition for students in grades 4 - 12. All you have to do to compete is invent a novel (but useful) product, system, or service, and come ready to pitch it to a panel of judges (think of this like a Shark Tank experience). There are 3 categories: elementary (grades 4 - 6), junior high (grades 7 - 9), and high school (grades 10 - 12). Over $6000 in cash prizes will be awarded.  The deadline for signup is March 14th. The competition will be held at BYU Provo in the Garden Court of the Wilk on April 14, 2017 from 9am - 1pm. Only the first 30 teams per grade category to register will be accepted. If you have any questions please email: divergeconverge@byu.edu.

Champions Challenge Reading Program

The Champions Challenge has officially kicked off at Larsen Elementary.  We had an exciting assembly that included a visit from Miss Rodeo 2017 McKenna Hales, rodeo clown Kevin Higley and members of the rodeo committee.  Our own Mr. Scoubes was a good sport when he climbed into a barrel and was rolled around by two wild bulls (aka students).  The Champions Challenge is a great program that teaches kids the importance of reading and how it will help them in every aspect of their lives.  Those who achieve their reading goal are eligible to win a pair of cowboy boots, hat, jeans and tickets to the rodeo in June.

Dr Seuss We Love You

March 2nd is Dr. Seuss Day and Larsen Elementary wanted to celebrate all of the amazing stories that he wrote for kids to enjoy.  Each class had different activities during the day, a class photo booth with Dr. Seuss props and also special prizes awarded from the office.  We ended the day with a fun assembly where the staff acted out "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish".  The students laughed the whole time and some performances were definitely Oscar worthy.   A special thanks to Mrs. Greene for all her hard work and planning.  Happy Dr. Seuss Day!
