Author Lezlie Evans Visits 2nd Grade

Submitted by teresa.beebe on Wed, 04/10/2019 - 13:07

Larsen 2nd graders were lucky to have author Lezlie Evans come and talk to them about reading, being an author and her books.  She said "When a child opens a book he or she opens the portals to wonderous places, exciting adventures, and exciting experiences.  When you read with a child, you create strong bonds and lasting memories, and when you teach children to read it empowers them. So go ahead,  read with a child today!"  Thank you for visiting Lezlie Evans!

Ms Hedricks Receives Outstanding Classified Employee Award

Submitted by teresa.beebe on Wed, 04/10/2019 - 10:27

Ms. Hedricks received the Horace Mann Outstanding Classified Employee Award for Larsen Elementary.  She works in our special education department with Mrs. Woolsey and Mrs. Williamson.   Ms. Hedricks is loved by all the students and helps each one see their worth and potential.  She builds up their confidence to be able to solve a math problem, spell a word, write a sentence, read a book and so many other things.  We are so lucky here at Larsen to be able to have Ms. Hedricks work with staff and students.  She definitely deserves this award.  Congratulations!

We are excited for our school to participate in the Fiesta Days Rodeo Reading Challenge during the month of April.  Each class has set a reading goal and each student that reaches that goal for the month will be entered in a drawing for two free tickets to the Fiesta Days Rodeo in July.  There will be one winner from each grade level.  Two students will be grand prize winners and will win rodeo tickets, boots, a hat and jeans.  We will be tracking reading minutes as a school.  Spanish Fork elementary schools combined are trying to reach a goal of reading almost 3 million minutes!  Please encourage your student to read and help us reach our goal!
