Several classes at Larsen where lucky to have Panda Express come and visit their classrooms. They taught students about what Lunar New Year is all about in China. Panda shared the customs and legends that have been passed down for over 3,800 years! They also were awesome for bringing food for everyone! Thank you Panda Express for coming and celebrating with us!
We had an eventful morning here at Larsen Elementary. First we had an assembly called "In Their Shoes" where students learned about how people live in other countries . Then after that, we got to hold our awesome read-a-thon assembly. The winning grade levels were 1st and 4th grade. Each class got to choose someone to get a pie thrown in their face. There were many nervous faculty and staff waiting to see who they would pick. The lucky winners were Mrs. Thomas (3 pies), Ms. Linnell, Mrs. Chynoweth, Mrs. Stevenson and Mrs. Wilson. They were great sports and all took it like champs! If you would still like to donate to the read-a-thon, the QR code is on the last picture or you can bring it to the office. Thanks for all the donations and keep up the great reading!
We are excited for our school to participate in the Fiesta Days Rodeo Reading Challenge during the month of March. Each class will have a reading goal, and each student that reaches that goal for the month will be entered in a drawing for two free tickets to the Fiesta Days Rodeo in July. There will be one winner from each grade level. Two students will be grand prize winners, and will win rodeo tickets, boots, a hat, and jeans. We will be tracking reading minutes as a school. Spanish Fork Elementary Schools combined are trying to reach a goal of reading almost 3 million minutes! Please encourage your student to read and help us reach our goal!
4th grader Dominic dressed up as Fudge from the Superfudge book, for dress-up-like-a-book-character day. He’s doing a great job helping to promote the read-a-thon and his outfit is so original! There were so many fun book characters walking around Larsen today. It was a great way to see how much kids love to read. Way to go students!
Our SEP conferences will be held today, February 26th from 3-5 and then 5:30-7:30 PM. This conference will be a walking report card format so there will not be individual times scheduled for each student. Students and parents may come anytime during the times listed above. It is a student lead conference where they will show their parents some of the amazing things they have been learning in class. We hope to see you all there!

We are having a Read A Thon!! Our goal is to encourage your students love of reading while raising funds for our school. You can just make a one time donation of any amount, or you can pledge 5 cents per minute read. Whatever works for your family. If you can't donate we totally understand. We would love all students to participate. We will be awarding classes with the most minutes read. The Read A Thon will run Feb 17-28.
