Larsen students learned some very important internet safety rules from the NetSmartz characters.  NetSmartz is an educational workshop about internet safety put on by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  Their goals are to:

Educate children on how to recognize potential Internet risks

Engage children and adults in a two-way conversation about on- and offline risks

Empower children to help prevent themselves from being exploited and to report victimization to a trusted adult.

If you would like further information about this program you can go to their website at www.netsmartz.org

On Wednesday night, the Larsen Elementary Choir had the opportunity to participate in Hope of America with other students throughout Utah County. They worked extremely hard to learn the songs and actions and couldn't wait to finally show it off! We had so much fun singing with other kids across Utah Valley and continuing on with this Larsen tradition.  Thank you Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Richardson for all of the time that you put into making the Larsen Elementary Choir great!

1st thru 4th graders at Larsen had the opprotunity to learn how to make Oriental dragons out of construction paper in Mrs. Knopp's art class.  The dragons have some intricate detail and even bend and move.  The students did a great job on this project.  Mrs. Knopp said that it took really good listening skills, following directions and patience by each student to have them turn out.  Thank you Mrs. Knopp for all the fun activities you do in your class!

Larsen Receives Generous Donation From Joann Fabric and Craft

Submitted by teresa.beebe on Tue, 03/24/2015 - 14:32

On March 19, 2015 at Joann Fabric and Craft’s ribbon cutting ceremony, Larsen Elementary was awarded a $2000 donation as part of their Grand Opening.  Larsen has had a great relationship with Joann’s in conjunction with our Afterschool 4-H program.  The 4-H program offers many classes in arts, crafts and sewing which helped to create our lasting relationship with the Spanish Fork store.  We are grateful for the donation that we have received and those funds will be used to increase the amount of technology in our classrooms for our students.  It is great to have support from our community in their efforts to help provide for our students education.

Students from the Afterschool 4-H Underwater Robotics club recently competed in the 3rd Annual Under Water Robotics Competition at the Lehi Aquatics Center.  Our club has been working since October on their robots, and did really well at the competition.  Students in this club had to be recommended by their teacher, and had to commit to their team and a lot of work.  We are so proud of not only how well they did at the competition, but also how they acted as they represented our school.

Leprechaun's found their way into Larsen Elementary this week. The 1st graders made some Leprechaun traps to catch the sneaky guys but they still got away.  They also left a big mess in their classrooms but did leave a pot of gold hidden for the students to find.  There were Leprechauns, rainbows, and gold pieces decorating our hallways all week from each class.   Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
