We want to congratulate the winners of the Fiesta Days Rodeo Reading Challenge.  Each winner will receive tickets to the rodeo in July.  The lucky students that won are Camden Lehman, Kaesia Wagstaff, Alexis Hair, Grayson Reynolds, Benjamin Spencer, Kayden Raadmae, and Kinzlee Calton (not pictured).  The grand prize winners were Kaeshia and Kayden.  Both of them will receive a cowboy hat, boots, jeans and rodeo tickets!  We are so proud of all of them and all the minutes that they read.  Thank you Spanish Fork Fiesta Days for sponsoring this fun reading challen

4th graders had an awesome experience visiting the Alf Engen Ski Museum.  The museum mission is to "preserve tje rich heritage of ski history and share that fascinating history with the public in a variety of ways."  The students also loved seeing all the olympic memorabilia, bobsleds, ski jumps and so many other things.  It was a a great field trip!

Four of our Larsen students received the "Terrific Kid Award" from the Kiwanis Club here in Spanish Fork. Terrific Kids is a student-recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance. 

Larsen Box Top drive is going on now to through Friday, April 26th.  Please have students turn them into their teachers.  The class with the most box tops will win a pizza party.  Thanks for your support!

Larsen Elementary was represented well with some of our speedy typers at the Nebo Keyboarding Competition.  Abbie Hall made it through the 3rd round and Kendra Houck placed 4th overall.  Great job typers!

Parents and Pastries was a total success this morning.  Thank you parents for coming with your students and enjoying time reading together.  Thank you PTA for putting it all together.  

Just a reminder that Parents and Pastries is tomorrow morning from 7:30-8:30 AM.  Come enjoy a doughnut and spend some time reading with your students.  We hope to see you there!

Larsen 4th graders celebrated Pioneer Day on Friday.  Students dressed like pioneers, played pioneer games, made pioneer crafts, made butter and cornbread, and ended the day with a program for the parents.  They performed pioneer dances and sang songs that they have been learning.  They even invited their parents to come and dance with them at the end.  It was such a fun day!

The Utah Shakespeare Festival is once again hitting the road with its Shakespeare-in-the-Schools touring production – this year performing one of the world’s first psychological thrillers, William Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

An evening performance for everyone is this Tuesday, April 16, at 7:30 at Springville High School, 1205 East 900 South, Springville, UT. Another performance will be held on Monday, April 15, at 3:30 p.m. at Spanish Fork High, 300 West 99 North, Spanish Fork. And, admission is free. 

Larsen 2nd graders were lucky to have author Lezlie Evans come and talk to them about reading, being an author and her books.  She said "When a child opens a book he or she opens the portals to wonderous places, exciting adventures, and exciting experiences.  When you read with a child, you create strong bonds and lasting memories, and when you teach children to read it empowers them.
