Thanksgiving Break is November 22-24.  School will be held Monday and Tuesday next week only. We hope that everyone travels safe and has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We would like to thank all the parents, students, and teachers that made our Box Top Drive a success.  Together, we earned $550.00 for our school!! Mrs. Greene and Mrs. Stokes class turned in the most Box Tops.   Our Next Box Top Drive will be in February so start saving them now. 

Larsen Elementary held the PTA Reflections contest recently.  This years theme was "Within Reach".  The categories that students could enter were:  Dance Choreography, Music Composition, Film Production, Photography, 2D Visual Arts, Literature and 3D Visual Arts.  Larsen Elementary has some very talented students who are creative. Thank you for turning in some amazing projects.  Great job!

Today Larsen Elementary had a special assembly celebrating our veterans.  The American Legion and our own Mr. Scoubes gave a presentation on the meaning behind Veterans Day.  They also showed a video about the American Flag.  Students sang to our heroes "God Bless the USA". Larsen 3rd graders and the 4H Service Learning class then presented the veterans with a thank you gift for their service.  We love our servicemen and women and the USA!

Aliya and Zane Cruz shared some of their Native American culture with their classes to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day which was held November 3rd.  They each performed a native dance in regalia.  Aliya danced the Fancy Shawl dance while Zane danced the  Grass dance.  They did a great job and classmates enjoyed seeing and learning more about their culture.

Some of the classes at Larsen had the priviledge to meet Tom Turkey and learn a little more about him when he visited our school.  Students learned a few interesting facts about turkeys:  Male turkeys "gobble" but female turkeys "bark".  When a male turkeys are calm their heads are blue but when they are mad they turn red.  Also, during the Revolutionary days, their long feathers were used to write with.  We hope we don't see Tom Turkey on our tables in a couple weeks!

Larsen students were so lucky to have a Western Hoe Down from the Gains ABC the Arts and Me Program.  A couple from St. George that have been square dancing for 45 years came and showed students all the different steps to square dancing.  Three seperate assemblies were held so that students had hands on help learning the steps.  Students had so much fun and enjoyed learning a new form of art.

We wanted to remind Larsen parents of our 3rd class for 7 Habits for Highly Effective Families that is being helt tonight at 6:30.  It will be held in the ESL room which is located right in 1st grade hall.  We hope to see you all there!
