Dragons Invade Larsen Elementary

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

1st thru 4th graders at Larsen had the opprotunity to learn how to make Oriental dragons out of construction paper in Mrs. Knopp's art class.  The dragons have some intricate detail and even bend and move.  The students did a great job on this project.  Mrs. Knopp said that it took really good listening skills, following directions and patience by each student to have them turn out.  Thank you Mrs. Knopp for all the fun activities you do in your class!

Larsen Elementary custodian Shelly Larsen received the Classified Employee of the Year Award for our school.  Craig Harvey from Horrace-Mann Insurance came and presented it to her at a faculty meeting.  Shelly is an outstanding employee and is always going the extra mile to help everyone here at Larsen.  She always has a smile on her face and is a joy to be around.  The faculty, as well as the students, love her and are so glad she is a part of Larsen Elementary. Our school is a better place because of her. Thanks for all you do Shelly!

Larsen Elementary had their Champions Challenge reading reward assembly this week and got to meet a NFR Bull Riding Champion.  Wesley Silcox came with members of the rodeo commitee to give out tickets and a couple pair of cowboy boots to some lucky readers at our school.  Students also got to compete in Stick Horse Barrel Races and Calf Roping competitions.  Principal Andersen even raced his dad with the stick horse and won!

4H Underwater Robotics Club Competes at Lehi Aquatics Center

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

Students from the Afterschool 4-H Underwater Robotics club recently competed in the 3rd Annual Under Water Robotics Competition at the Lehi Aquatics Center.  Our club has been working since October on their robots, and did really well at the competition.  Students in this club had to be recommended by their teacher, and had to commit to their team and a lot of work.  We are so proud of not only how well they did at the competition, but also how they acted as they represented our school.

St. Patrick's Day Fun!

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

Leprechaun's found their way into Larsen Elementary this week. The 1st graders made some Leprechaun traps to catch the sneaky guys but they still got away.  They also left a big mess in their classrooms but did leave a pot of gold hidden for the students to find.  There were Leprechauns, rainbows, and gold pieces decorating our hallways all week from each class.   Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
