Submitted by natalee.hansen on

On August 30th we were privileged to have Mr. Osmond who works with Richard Paul Evans come and do an assembly to teach our students about the importance of reading. This assembly was sponsored by Richard Paul Evans, the author of the Michael Vey series books.   Mr. Osmond had lots of eager students and teachers volunteer to participate in a game show and answer questions about books they had read. Way To Go Leopards!

This Is The Place For Larsen 4th Grade

Submitted by natalee.hansen on

Thursday May 16, 2013 Larsen 4th Grade visited "This Is The Place" in Salt Lake City.  They started the day by attending school, meeting their new teacher and learning new school rules, then everyone headed over to pull or push a handcart.  4th Graders watched and learned a little about being a Blacksmith and then it was off for a ride around the park on the train for a history lesson. We ate our sack lunches then boarded the buses and leaped through time back to 2013 and arrived safe and sound at Larsen. Way To Go Leopards!!

Kindergarteners Get A Little Buzzzed!

Submitted by natalee.hansen on

Larsens “Mr. B,” the Beekeeper (also known as Mr. Bingham, School Counselor) amazed Larsen’s Kindergarteners by showing them how bees make honey, giving out tastes of honey from his own hives and showing the fancy clothes beekeepers wear.  Our Kindergarteners also learned about the different kinds of Bees, workers, queens, drones, guards, and fanners. Thank you Mr. B!!

2nd Graders Learn A Little Bit About Farming At Harwood Farms

Submitted by natalee.hansen on

Larsen Elementary second graders recently took a field trip to the Farm Field Days at harwood Farms in Springville.  We learned about farming and how important agriculture is to everyone.  We started off the day seeing how a sheep gets a hair cut, the farmers like to call it sheering.  As the days get warmer the sheep love to get rid of their heavy winter wool coat.
