4th Grade Visits Camp Floyd

Submitted by natalee.hansen on

Recently 4th grade students from Larsen Elementary joined the Union troops and enjoyed a fun filled day out at Camp Floyd.  On our field trip to Camp Floyd the fourth graders made adobe bricks and candles, went to pioneer school, drilled with the army, visited a stage coach inn and toured a museum. We played pony express games and learned about the events that led up to the US Army marching to Utah.  Among other things we also got a taste of what school life was like in the 1860s.

Larsen Elementary Remembers Veterans Day!

Submitted by natalee.hansen on

Larsen Elementary recently had some very special visitors come to our school to help us honor Veteran's Day. We are so proud of all of our veterans and enjoyed having them come and talk to us this year. We watched a video presentation, and each one of the Veterans and our own Mr. Scoubes, introduced themselves and talked to the students and told us a little about where they have served.  It was a very touching and moving assembly reminding us all of what these wonderful Veterans have sacrificed and done for us and our Country so that we can be free.

6th Grade Blasts Off!

Submitted by natalee.hansen on

On Friday November 2nd, Larsen 6th Grade blasted off to Salt Lake on their fall field trip to Clark Planetarium.  Luckily we were able to orbit and land at the Planetarium before the snows started.  We enjoyed learning about the reasons for our seasons, as well as constellations of the sky. the students also had a great time exploring and discovering new things while at the Planetarium. We got to eat our lunches at the Gateway and landed back at Larsen before the snow got too deep. Way To Go Leopards!!

Mountain Man Scott Sorenson Visits Larsen 4th Grade!

Submitted by natalee.hansen on

Fourth Graders were excited to have a real-life mountain man, Scott Sorenson visit us recently.  He kept us spell-bound as he told us tall tales as well as true stories about the adventures of real mountain men. We also loved the animal calls he did for us and were excited to learn that we can call a chipmunk by wetting our hand and kissing it.  Believe me, we all had to try it.  It was very exciting to see all of the furs of the many different animals he brought to show us.   WAY TO GO LEOPARDS!!
