6th Grade Studies Michelangelo

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

Larsen 6th graders have been studying the Renaissance period and learned about the artist Michelangelo. Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling for four years on his back using custom scaffolding 59 feet above the floor.  Students tried to draw on their backs underneath their desks to see how i felt to create a masterpiece in that position.  Larsen Elementary has some brilliant artist for sure.

Our 2nd grade teachers put together an awesome karaoke and dance off competition for our Leopard Pride Assembly.  A couple students from  each class were chosen to perform in front of the everyone and 4 judges.  We didn't know that Larsen Elementary students had so many great dancers.  We even had a few of the staff that were chosen to go up and show their dancing skills.  Great job Larsen Leopards!

K12 Student Innovator of the Year is an innovation competition for students in grades 4 - 12. All you have to do to compete is invent a novel (but useful) product, system, or service, and come ready to pitch it to a panel of judges (think of this like a Shark Tank experience). There are 3 categories: elementary (grades 4 - 6), junior high (grades 7 - 9), and high school (grades 10 - 12). Over $6000 in cash prizes will be awarded.  The deadline for signup is March 14th.
