5th Grade Freedom Quilt

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

An important part of 5th grade history is the Civil War and slavery. Larsen 5th grade students had the chance to create a quilt like those used on the underground railroad to show the path to freedom. Each square tells its own story!

4th Grade Learns About Mountain Men

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

Larsen 4th graders have been learning all about mountain men, fur traders, trappers, scouts and guides that explored the Utah Territory.  They drew some pictures that represent who they were.  Some of these men were Peter Skene Ogden, Jed Smith, Kit Carson, William H. Ashley, Jim Bridger and James Beckworth.  Great job 4th grade!

5th and 6th Grade Orchestra Assembly

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

5th and 6th grade orchestra students from Larsen Elementary and Park Elementary gave a beautiful performance today.  They played solo and group numbers performed along with helping the student body understand what instruments are used in an orchestra. These 5th and 6th grade students meet before school a couple times a week and are taught by Mrs. Kimberlie Derfler.  It is a great program to get kids excited about orchestra when they enter junior high.  Thank you Mrs. Derfler for all your hard work.

D.A.R.E. Graduation

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

Larsen 5th graders held their D.A.R.E. graduation this last week.  D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.  We would like to thank Officer Dewitt and his hard work teaching our students the harmful effects of drugs and how to resist them.  We are so proud of our 5th graders and their pledge to stay drug free!
