5th Grade Participates in Hope of America

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

Larsen 5th graders were opportunity to participate in the Freedom Festival Hope of America.  The following is from the Hope of America website:

“Hope of America” was created by Kathy MacDonald in 1995 with the support of America’s Freedom Festival in Provo, Utah. Each year nearly 8,000 elementary school children from 100+ schools ( including charter, private, and home schools) come together and present songs of Hope, Service, and Patriotism."

We are grateful that our 5th graders got to experience this patriotic event and were able to show respect to our country.

Our 5th graders participated in the Freedom Walk today to honor veterans from all branches of the military.   Each student chose a family member or friend that has served or is currently serving our great country.  They then wrote a report about their lives.  Their reports were displayed on a banner for all to read.

We wanted to thank our PTA and Larsen families for an amazing Teacher appreciation week!  The PTA made us breakfast, lunch, treats, prizes, sidewalk pictures, movie night and even took over every class for 30 minutes so that teachers could have a longer lunch.  We are so grateful for all their hard work and all the time they put into making Larsen a great place to be!  We love our PTA!

Larsen Kindergarten-2nd grades all took a field trip to Hogle Zoo on Wednesday.  The students were so excited about how active the polar bear, otters and elephants were that day.  They learned about the animals and habitats of all different species.  We had many parent helpers that day also to help keep all the kids where they were supposed to be.  Thanks to everyone for helping make this field a success!

The Living Planet Aquarium came to 4th grade and talked about animals and their habitats.  There were 2 snakes and a salamander that students got to meet.  Some even were brave enough to touch them.  It was fun also because one of  presenters was our own Mrs. Head's daughter.  Thank you Living Planet Aquarium for helping us learn new things!

Chalk the Walk Teacher Appreciation

Our amazing PTA set up an activity for families to come to the school and write messages to the teachers and staff here at Larsen on the sidewalks.  Students were having so much fun drawing pictures and talking all about their teachers.  It was heartwarming to see how much our kids love school and the people here at Larsen.  Thank you for showing everyone so much appreciation!
