Island Getaway at Larsen

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

We went on an island getaway during this rainy season.  Our first and second grade classes made these beautiful island sunset pictures using different kinds of techniques.  They sure make our hallways seem like we are on summer vacation early.

Spanish Fork Library came and presented their summer reading program to students at Larsen.  The program is titled "Every Hero has a Story" and runs from May 27th to August 8th.  There are so many activities for all ages and is a great way to keep your student reading all summer long.  If you have any questions you can contact the library or visit their website at spanishfork.org.

5th Grade State Fair

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

The Larsen 5th graders held their annual State Fair last week.  Each student is given a state to learn and tell about in preperation for the State Fair.  They make a travel brochure, shoe box trivia question, t-shirt design, dress up as a famous person from their particular state and give a presentation too about that person.   Each class as well as parents came and learned about all 50 states.  Well done 5th grade!!

Reading Reward Olympics

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

The students at our school had a very exciting reading reward activity on Monday.  The fourth and sixth grade teachers were in charge and came up with some really fun challenges for the Larsen Reading Olympics.  The challenges were a potato sack race, three-legged race, egg toss, stick pull, balloon relay, cracker whistling,  egg on a spoon race, and put on a frozen t-shirt race.  It was so fun for everyone and a few people even had an egg break on them!  Thanks for all the fantastic reading that was done for the month of April!  Larsen students

Art Classes Make Tape Sculptures

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

If you come in the office at Larsen Elementary you will meet a new friend here named Steve.  He is a tape sculpture made by one of Mrs. Knopp's 5th grade Art classes.  There should be a few more new friends around the halls soon too from other classes.  The classes tape around one of the students for the body and use a mannequin to form the head.  One of the students said this was one of their favorite projects that they had ever done.  Thank you Mrs. Knopp for all of your exciting ideas and teaching different forms of art!

Larsen Elementary Receives Largest School Cents Check from Maceys

Submitted by teresa.beebe on

We want to thank all of our parents who have shopped at Maceys and participated in the School Cents Program.  When Maceys came to deliver the check they said that it is the largest School Cents check she had seen to date.  The amount of the check was $6,369.22 which is 1% of what was spent at our local Maceys store.  This money will be used towards technology and supplies for Larsen Elementary.  Thank you for all your support and a special thanks to Maceys for helping our students have what they need for a successful education!
