February is national dental hygiene month and the second graders have been learning alot about taking care of their teeth! Several of the wives of dentists in our surrounding area came and put on a puppet show for them! The second graders learned how important it is to take care of their teeth! They learned how to brush and floss and how often, they learned when to go to the dentist, and what to do to make sure their permanent teeth don't fall out. They had a lot of fun and loved the puppets! WAY TO GO LEOPARDS!!

Our wonderful art teacher, Mrs. Taylor recently had the fun idea for all of the children to each make a snowman to decorate our halls at Larsen. Every student put a fun and personalized twist on their own snowmen so that there is not one frosty that looks the same. They all turned out so cute and made our walls look a bit "Cooler". WAY TO GO LEOPADS!!
Wednesday January 29, 2014 Larsen Elementary recently held its annual Science Fair. Fifth and Sixth grade students, (and parents) spent hundreds of hours in the last couple of weeks working on and preparing their wonderful projects and experiments to be judged and displayed. Students researched how popcorn pops, baking in glass verses metal, plant growth, makeup colors, light, altitude, boat buoyancy, battery life, static electricity, soap bubbles and many more exciting and educational topics. The other grades K-4th also visited the fair and listened to the 5th and 6th graders explain as they told them about their experiments and how they worked and completed their projects. Thank you and congratulations to all of those 5th and 6th grade students who participated. WAY TO GO LEOPARDS!!
Wednesday January 22nd Larsen PTA held their annual before school Reading and Donuts activity from 7:30am -8:15 am. Students enjoyed reading their books which had been given to them by our Larsen PTA. Students chose to bring their dads, uncles, grandpas, moms, siblings or other special people with them to the fun event. Delicious, warm donuts and milk were served to everyone. This is a fun way to show our awesome Larsen students the importance of reading. Thank you Larsen PTA and parents for supporting your child’s reading! Way To Go Leopards!!
Larsen Elementary students were entertained as well as educated during an awesome stunt bike assembly held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Rich Wieber and his partners travel all over the United States performing for students. Along with their cool stunts and tricks they teach the students about proper bicycle checks, helmet safety, the dangers of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and bullying. They also teach the students the importance of setting goals and achieving those goals, and about hard work and determination. Rich also told the students a personal story of how he was racing in the BMX circuit and when he crashed how his helmet saved his life. The highlight of the event was when one of the bikers jumped over our own Mr. Andersen, Mr. Bingham and Mr. Scoubes. Stay safe and WAY TO GO LEOPARDS!!!!
